Holy Cow Batman!! Wowza! So awesome. Thank you to all of my loyal followers who continue to provide motivation, encouragement, and support. I only hope that I can provide you the same as well.

I'm sure this seems like the perfect occasion to do a giveaway, but I haven't ever done one on here and unsure how it should work. Any ideas?

10 on Tuesday

1. I love swim day Thursdays. I look forward to it all week. :) Kids swim, we hang out.

2. So for a little update on Scott's job. 1451 positions to look through, 273 in the U.S., about 25 in So Cal. He was able to find 5 to apply for which got approved by his boss. Now we wait for the process to be over. He will know in 2-3 weeks.

3. I didn't really do well at all last week (besides my 7 mile run). I managed to gain the 2 pounds back that I lost the week before. I have a feeling some of it might have been water though, cuz 1.2 of it was already off this morning (from yesterday). We'll see if it stays off by next Monday.

4. Swim lessons started this week. The girls love it. This is Skyler's first year in lessons where I wasn't in the pool with her. Courtney started out in level 2 but got moved up to level 3. It was very ridiculous what level 2 was doing. In the 20 minutes I waited to say something they did bubbles, one kick board thing with the teacher, kicking on the wall, holding the wall and pushing off, and Simon says (with bouncing and stuff like that). I went up to the other teachers who weren't teaching and asked if she could move up a level because she can already swim. I said I knew it was only the first day, but it's been 20 minutes already and they haven't swam yet. She needed to have a class to work on strokes, and side breathing...not what they were doing. What they were doing was pretty much what Skyler's class was doing. So, the girl asked the instructor and she asked Courtney to swim to her. She was shocked at how well she could swim. Then had her do the backstroke to test her. Then she had her swim to the next level class. Once she was in the next class it was perfect for her. Right at her level. All of the kids in this class were needing to perfect their swimming. So, now she swims laps pretty much doing different things going across. She loves it. I was shocked when I saw Skyler holding a kick board behind her head and kicking all by herself already. It was awesome.

5. I had such a great time on vacation this last weekend at Shaver Lake. It was so much fun. (more to come)

6. I was looking at the side of my blog at the goals section realizing that it has been since March that I first hit the 60 lb. loss point. I did get up to 64, but as of this morning was back to 60. I need to stop what I'm doing and get serious again. I just keep going from 60 lost to 64 back and forth. It must stop. I must move forward and get past that point.

7. I need to call to schedule my hair appointment already. I have had this free hair cut thing for a couple months now. I seriously need a hair cut. I will be chopping it off. I'll do comparison shots of the last time I got my hair cut and this hair cut.

8. I feel the need to do some major organizing and housework in general. I'm going to start sanding the window sills outside pretty soon and will be painting them after. I want to get rid of a bunch of stuff in the garage too and organize all of my scrapbook and PartyLite stuff.

9. Self sabotage....oh how I loathe thee. Especially when that self sabotage leads to me also getting sick. Why do we do this to ourselves? We know our goals. We pretty much know what we should and shouldn't eat. Yet we give ourselves permission to go against it.

10. Biggest Loser needs to come back. I need that additional inspiration.

7 Mile Run!!!

7 Miles!!!

I did my first 7 mile run. I have done 7 before, but not running pretty much the whole thing. The only time before was at the relay for life and I was constantly stopping to get water and to stretch. This run was pretty much a run the whole time. I only stopped like 5 times for lights and to catch my breath. I counted that time against me too (except the lights where I couldn't even walk if I wanted to). At those I just paused the sportband.

I finished in 1 hour 20 minutes and 16 seconds. I was very proud of that. I kept my 5K pace throughout the whole 7 miles. I was shocked and surprised.

I decided to map it out ahead of time to see where I could run. Then it was getting late and I was losing daylight. So, I only mapped part of it. I did an extra loop at the beginning and a few cul de sacs along the way to add to the miles. I got back from the mapped part and was to my house at 4.95 miles. So I knew I had roughly 2 more to go. It was starting to get dark so I had to stay close to home. I looped around a few blocks then came back. I then just stuck to the sidewalk that is across the street from my house. It was too dangerous for me to run on the street. Especially since I was wearing all black (except my shoes). The rest of the run was rather boring because I was just going back and forth on my street and the one next to it on the side walk back and forth.

A few interesting things happened. I only got chased by one dog this time. Once again, it was a little one and a new one. So, mental note, don't go down that cul de sac again. Seriously, why are they out? You can tell they are just protecting their house, but really? Keep them inside or on a leash if you're outside with them.
Ok, I want to know why these say they are free clipart, royalty free...but then they put a big watermark on it??
GROSS!! A bug went up my nose....eeeeeeewww. Thankfully it went right back out as I essentially snorted it out. eeeeewwww Of course the natural reaction would be to snot shot it out. But what I wasn't expecting was that I then needed to blow my nose because I had more just waiting to come out. So gross. I of course didn't have any so I had to get it off my nose. I sorta blew my nose on the inside lower part of my shirt. NEVER thought I would do that! But I wasn't right near home to just go in and blow it real quick. And I didn't want to stop. I'm going to have to keep a running list of all of these random things one could need when on a run outside. It's kinda hilarious. Gross, but funny. Great stories to tell my hubby and kids when I get home. This time the kids were already asleep so I told my hubby. He laughed.

I also felt very clumsy. Maybe it was because it was so dark. Or my muscles were tired but I almost fell twice. Like tripped and caught myself, should have gone down, but somehow didn't.

I might need to start going on the trail. It has several signals but at least it wouldn't be a million streets to cross without signals. Also, it seems a little safer there for a longer run. There are constant people on it so if anything happened. Chances are someone would find me.

I have been thinking about safety a lot now that I am doing longer runs and more things are happening on my runs. So far I haven't been running with a phone. BAD IDEA. I don't like it at all. I want to get one of those little packs (kinda like a fanny pack but smaller and for runners). It stretches out to hold whatever. My phone could fit so at least I could call for help.

Some possible things you might need when you run:
Phone
Mace or stick
Tissue
Road ID
Gels or whatever you take for more energy on long runs (Do any of you do that? I bet it has too much fructose for me.)
Headband for sweat?

FYI: Trying to catch up on blogging after being on vacation.

10 on Tuesday

1. I had a traumatic run last night. First off I ran way too close to dusk. The sun was already down just wasn't dark yet when I started so I was trying to get r done. I had a pack of 3 little dogs chase me. (I yelled at them and then stopped and then kept coming. I yelled at them again and 2 of them ran away. I then noticed that one was still coming so I jumped around to stomp hard and yell at the same time. Trying to make myself look big too with my arms out. Finally that dog ran away too.) Then I go down the street and start rounding the corner and there comes another small dog (bigger than the first 3 though). He was with a group of people outside. I turned and yelled loudly at him. All of the people were running after trying to get him saying no that he's a good/nice dog. Then I told them that I just had 3 other dogs chase me and they all laughed and nodded in understanding at my reaction to their little dog. Thankfully I was almost home. It was starting to get dark. I never saw it coming. I inhaled a bug. eeeewwww I must have looked like I was choking on the side of the road. I was trying to cough it out. It didn't work and I ended up having to swallow it. So gross. My kids got a kick out of the story when I got back.

 2. I'm excited that my run time was at 34. min. 47 sec. last night (for a 5K). Back to the 34s. I have not been running this last week much so yesterday and the day before I ran. I need to get back on my 1/2 marathon training and this is helping a lot.

3. Our house is like laundry central today. Oh how the laundry just doesn't stop. I'm trying to get it all done before camping Friday so we have whatever we need to pack.

4. We have our annual Shaver Lake camping trip this weekend. We can only go a weekend this year. We were hoping to make it a week but Scott has to be back early to work to essentially re-apply for his job. More about that next. I am looking forward to the lake. It will be nice to get away, even if it's a lot of driving for just a weekend get away.

5. Scott's work, Chevron, is doing massive lay offs. They are restructuring like crazy. So, everyone has to reapply for 4 jobs. Out of those, his boss can recommend him for one. Then it's a waiting game to see if he gets one. ahhh He has already applied to a bunch of other places also and at Chevron just in case. It's very nerve wracking. Not knowing what's going to happen. When he has to apply for the jobs is next week. So, Shaver is out for being a week trip.

6. One of the snacks I like the most is graham crackers. I don't understand why I don't get sick off of them, though. They have wheat in them and have honey. Double whammy. Maybe there isn't enough to have it be a problem or maybe I just don't eat much of it because it's filling.
This is one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. This is straight from the camera.
7. The girls start swim lessons next week. I HAVE to remember that when we get back. I'll have to set a reminder on my phone. This will be Skyler's first year in a swim class without me (preschool swim class that they just added). Courtney will be in level 2 this year (again). She said they could move her up if they need to. I don't really care since she is safe in the water now. Now it's just refining her form and getting better at different strokes.

8. My girls are now obsessed with the possibility of going to Splash. It's a local waterpark. It looks like a tiny version of a waterpark in my opinion but it's crazy expensive. The girls had me count up all of the money they had in their piggy banks to see if they had enough for all of us to go. They didn't quite make it. I feel so bad about this, but we really don't have the money to be going to Splash when we have a school supply list to get and bills like crazy. ahh I wish I could take them. Some day.

9. 91 followers?!?!?! When the heck did that happen? Oh my gosh I'm so close to 100. That's just nuts. Just a couple months ago I was at 13. Where did you all come from? lol I'm still trying to figure out how to get back to your blogs if when I click on your picture there isn't a link section (with your blog on it). Hmm...sounds like maybe a giveaway should be done when/if 100 followers happens. Not sure what, but that seems appropriate.

10. The girls and I colored outside today on a blanket under the tree. It was fun, but now I feel itchy. Ever wonder what the people in the cars are thinking of you when they pass by? I do all the time.

New Weigh In Day

I changed my weigh ins to Mondays right after the challenge ended so I could see the damage done right after and keep it from continuing.

I lost 2 pounds this week!! (of the 6 I had gained)

Challenge Check ins will be easier on Mondays too since one is Sunday and one is Tuesday. Summer Slimmin' Challenge and Healthy You Challenge are weight determined. Then I just added a 500 miles in 2010 challenge. I still need to add the icon and all of that to my blog for it. I'm at I think it's 223 and some change miles this year so far. Not bad considering I just started running in February. Anyone can join these challenges. Just go to the icons on the right of my blog to find the websites.

I only ran 3.1 miles last week, so I need to step that up. That was one run (last night). I did one other workout at the gym, but wasn't running. I need to keep better on track for my 1/2 marathon training this week. I need to do a 7 mile run sometime this week. ahh!

First Prizes

For our new rewards system the girls filled their pails for the first time. So, they picked their prizes. They kept changing their minds at first, but then settled on what they wanted. Skyler picked Chuck E Cheese's. Courtney picked the beach. Here are some pictures from both. We just happened to be able to do both this week. Here are the pictures from Chuck E. Cheese's. They had a blast. We haven't been there for quite some time so it was interesting to see them chose different things this time. They spent most of their tokens on taking pictures of themselves. lol

Then the beach. We went with a huge group of people (40). It was so cold when we got there. The wind was crazy. Only Scott and Courtney braved the freezing water. We had a great time doing the bonfire, hanging out with lots of friends, and eating smores.

Weekend Review

We have had a fun packed summer! That is for sure. I really am trying to do something fun with the girls once a day so that they have a variety to their summer days.

Yes, that's me in a bathing suit. HAHA I'm mostly in the water. The suit does fit better though.

The girls had their last day at vbs (which was a water day) on Friday. Then we headed over to my friend, Tamara's house to swim. We had a great time hanging out with her. Then we went home to get our stuff and head to the beach. It was an insane day and I was pretty tired by the end of it. Tons of fun though. :) There were about 40 of us there.

Saturday I had a MOPS meeting in the morning. This was my first meeting to help run as Co-Coordinator. I was excited. We had about 12 people show up for it. We had a fun meal while we met and planned the next semester. We got so much accomplished. I'm so excited for the coming MOPS semester. After was a pool party. Since only 3 of us MOPS moms were left, we decided to call the families in to come over to swim. We seriously were there all day. :) Thanks Candice!!

Mothers of Preschoolers

Sunday we had church and got to hear Todd speak. I love it when he speaks. He needs to be up there more often! We went to Sunday school too. Then we headed over to my parent's house to have a BBQ and swim (yes, again). I only swam for a tiny bit. Then we BBQed and my brother and family came over too. It was fun. Then we came home and cleaned our house! Woho! How exciting, right?! lol Well, it felt good doing it. :) Get r done. Then I went for a run with Shauna. I felt so out of shape during the run and felt like I was running slowly. I haven't run much in the last week, so that's part of it. Plus, I am still getting over being sick. I couldn't believe when I got back home (at the finish) and saw my time. 35 min. 17 seconds (for a 5K). It felt like I was running much slower than that, so that's really good. I'll take it. This week in my training schedule I need to do a 7 mile run. ahh this will be fun.

What Can You Eat?

I hear that question a lot. Especially when I am somewhere and realizing I really can't eat anything they are serving. Or at least I shouldn't unless I want to be in pain and in their bathroom for a while. No fun. So I thought I would post what I can eat. Just realize that it's all relative to how my body responds to things and that some things are safe, some things are ok to try (in moderation) and others are absolute no nos. A lot of the things that really are in the ok to try it out category have been moved by my body to the no no section. These are not complete lists but the only ones I can seem to find online. There really needs to be more info for a person on this. I need a recipe list from those who have been dealing with it a while, cuz it's hard to eat like this. This is helping me put the two lists I have together in one. Just because it's on the safe to eat group doesn't mean I like it.

I'm tired just writing all of this. Feel free to glance past all of the crazy sugar names.

The Versatile Blogger Award!!!!

A huge thank you to Christine from Phoenix Revolution for giving me this blog award!! Really, I am humbly honored that you would give me this award. Thank you so much.

Rules, the rules for the award are as follows:
1. Thank the person giving the award
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs.
4. Let your nominees know about the award.

7 Things about myself
Why do these things always include something like this? There are a ton of things you don't know about me, just a lot of stuff I'm not sure I want to share.
1. I was a double major in Psychology and Dance for about a week. Then I determined it would be too much to try to finish both in 4 years. I was already taking a million dance classes just for fun so I thought, why not make it a major. So, I dropped the dance major and kept taking classes for fun.
2. Just about every morning I have cereal for breakfast. Usually Honey Nut Cheerios. But since knowing I have Fructose Malabsorption, I'm not supposed to have anything with honey, so I really should change to regular ol' Cheerios. I just can't bring myself to do it.
3. I have a singing pen that plays "Bet On It" from High School Musical. I guess if you have been reading my blog a long time you would know that since I posted about it, but it was a while ago. So, chances are, you don't know about it.
4. I have a sunflower growing in my kitchen. It's one of those experiments from school that the kids bring home. Most of ours never make it, but this one is thriving. I may need to plant it in the garden. It's about a foot and a half tall.
5. I played the flute for 4 years and the piano before that. I haven't really played either in a very long time.
6. I have a secret aspiration to be a motivational speaker or personal trainer. not sure I could pull of either, but I like the thought of it.
7. I am a note taker. Give me a meeting and I will be the one taking notes regardless if it's my job or not. I like to have all of the information down for myself. That way at least I know what I'm doing. I have always been this way.

Nominate 15 Newly Discovered Blogs (I'm putting those in this category if I can't remember reading your blog for very long. lol)
1.Fat Girl to Thin
2. Emancipating the Thin Within
3. This Time...
4. Mama's (soon to be) Fit Life
5. Shelly's  losing it
6. Tales of an ordinary life
7. 500 Miles in 2010
8. The Inked Stamper
9. Kat's Adventures in Dietland
10. What This Mom Knows!
11. The Sunny Side of Life
12. UnTypical Jia (Color Me UnTypical)
13. Smaller Fun Pants
14. I go through life in inches and pounds (fat girl vs world)
15. Working on My Fitness

10 on Tuesday

1. Ahhh!! I came to my blog tonight and found that I had a little note at the top of it saying that my blog background would disappear this Friday. I needed to go and pick out a new one. Boo! I liked my blog background. So, I found the exact same one and tried to paste the new code in. That didn't work. It just made it go blank. So, I found a different one which is very similar and pasted that code. It worked, but then I realized I pasted the 3 column background instead of the regular one. So, I go back to the website and now it won't load so I can fix the problem. And the message is on that background too. So, who knows what my blog will look like on Friday. I may or may not have a background.

2. Have I mentioned that I can't stand Blogger's editor?? I click ENTER and it does nothing. Or it looks like it does nothing. It hides the little blinking line and you have to proceed by pushing the down arrow. Or I hit enter and it stays where it is, but adds a row under what you have (but doesn't move there). Stupid! Get it together Blogger. (Plus, they don't let you use very many fonts.)

3. I weighed in last week and lost 2 pounds since the week before. (I have since gained that back already though.)

4. I weighed, I ate like crazy this weekend, I am done. I need to start back to it. I'm not giving myself any more time. I'm wasting time already. Time to get back to it and lose the rest of this weight.

5. Is feeling a little down about someone's reaction to something. It just makes me feel so not cared about. Sometimes I wonder why I even try. I guess I hold out for hope that the person can change. It's getting old. I feel like I'm a pretty nice person. I just don't get it.

6. I thought I would post this picture because I felt so great while I was wearing this shirt. I felt so hot and sexy. It was awesome. It was the first time that I ever wore it.

7. Have you ever played "Apples to Apples"?? It's an awesome game. Very easy and we usually end up laughing really hard while playing it.

8. I need a new family picture for my blog (for the main header). That one is back from Easter. Time for change. That means I have to re-install my photoshop too. I've been meaning to do that anyway.

9. I'm thinking about starting the whole Twilight series all over again (reading it). We have a road trip coming up at the end of July/beginning of August. I do much better on long road trips if I have a really good book to read.

10. Do you use Twitter? I must admit that I don't use it very much. I find it is almost exactly like a facebook status and wonder what the point is. If I'm regularly posting those statuses, why would you want another status on Twitter? I guess if they were different, maybe. I like the idea of it though.

Biggest Loser Challenge #3

Is over! Out of 40 participants, I ended up in 5th place
#5 Traci (Bob & Jillian's Favorite) lost 6.5% (14.6 lb.)
(please don't figure out the math...lol)

I'll take it. Especially considering I didn't do very well. Or at least, not in my mind. I should have been in 3rd at the least if I was going at a better weight loss pace. In all honestly, I didn't try very hard. Partially because weigh ins were on Friday (and it was easier to cheat on the weekend). But really, I just was giving myself permission to sabotage myself too much. But I know exactly what I did and how to change it. And I will. The next challenge weigh ins will be on Mondays. That will stop the weekend madness once and for all. It seems like a fun idea to weigh in on Fridays so that you can cheat on the weekends. But all you do the rest of the week is recover from whatever you did on the weekend. Then you either maintain or barely lose. Not a winning strategy in my book. So, I'm changing it back to Mondays. The first challenge was Friday weigh ins. The second challenge was Monday weigh ins. The third was back to Friday (my first one) and the 4th will be on Mondays again.

Here is part of the email that I sent out to all of the participants after the finale weigh in:

What an awesome challenge this was. Thank you to all who participated.

Congratulations to SHEILA (Mariposa) for winning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so proud of all of you! It was fun having some of you come to see who the winners were too even if you weren't weighing in. :) We started with 40 (plus several in the "for fun" group) and 8 showed up to weigh in for the finale.

I am planning on doing another challenge starting probably at the beginning of September if you are interested. So tell your friends. It seems like those who have friends doing this along with them stuck it out a while longer. So, I encourage you to have a friend join you. I also will probably change it to Monday weigh ins because I have found that Friday just is not working. Monday will encourage us to continue to do well on the weekend and end the cycle of binging after weigh in each week.

After doing 3 of these challenges now (this is the first that I have run), I have found a few things out. I'm not sure if I have this mentality because I haven't ever won or not, but it's not about winning. Ultimately it would be awesome to win. But in reality, only one person can win. (Shauna, Eva, and Sheila so far have been winners.) You have to be in this for the healthy lifestyle changes that this encourages. For it to jump start you to reach your goals. I have seen several people reach their goal weight doing this. It's all worth it. Even if you managed to maintain instead of gain during the same 12 weeks you have done good. Or even if this has challenged you to think about what changes you want to make in your life regarding your health and weight, it was worth it. We are all winners.

Sometimes it feels like it's just not the right time for us. Whatever is going on in my life is too much right now to add in a healthy lifestyle change. But I challenge you to change. It took Jillian Michaels looking into the tv telling me (she said, YES YOU) that "There was NEVER going to be a right time. That you need to stop the excuses and start now." You are worth it. You deserve it. You can do it.  It really was life changing for me.

So take this time to relax a little from the friendly competition. Keep being healthy. And come back ready to fight for it. For your health and well being. For your kids, husband, family, & especially YOU.

It has been great. Thanks so much for joining us.

Weekend Review

Friday was the finale for our Biggest Loser Challenge. See next blog for more.

Saturday we started off early for an almost 2 hour trip to San Diego. We were going down there for a family reunion for my Dad's side of the family. This is the one time a year that we see the Arizona clan and the San Diego clan too. Lots-o-Cousins!! Really, the family is huge, and I'm still trying to figure out every name and how we are all related. It's a little insane. One of these years I'm going to take a picture of everyone and sorta catalog it. Put their name and how they are related to everyone. That sounds like a fun project. An extra bonus for the girls is that we let them use the DVD players on the way down because it's so far away. We only let them use them for long trips so this counted. They were excited.

This one was off of Coronado Island, but is probably the same type that was sighted in Mission Bay. They saw several on the island and by the USS Midway.

The girls had a great time playing with their cousins and going in the water with ONLY their feet. We didn't bring swim suits on purpose because we didn't want them in that water. We had just seen on the news reports of jellyfish with 30 foot long tentacles in the bay there. CRAZY! Just 2 years ago they couldn't go in the water either because of jellyfish. Little ones ranging in size. Some only like 4 inches but all still sting. Lots of people that year were getting stung. Those ones were clear but were ALL OVER the beach and in the water. The reports this time showed the large jellyfish actually coming all the way up on shore. Scott didn't tell me that part until the kids were already in the water. Thankfully the lifeguard said he hadn't seen any that day, but warned everyone that that didn't mean they weren't there. These ones were brown.

We had a great time. It was such a new experience this year for me. Since last year several of us found each other on facebook. We have been getting to know each other better and knowing more about our lives. When you only see them one day a year, it's hard to really get to know people. This made me so much closer to a lot of my cousins.

This weekend left me with a warm fuzzy feeling about family. I loved it.
Wow, are these 2 related, or what? Cousins!

Sunday we had lots of plans and didn't do any of them. Scott and Courtney weren't feeling well so we all stayed home. I took some time to finish my book (Breaking Dawn, again). Man, it never gets old. I LOVE that book. And that whole series. It's amazing how much you forget and how reading it again is so much fun all over again. I saw Eclipse with my friend Kristy last Monday so that made me want to read what was next. And Breaking Dawn is my favorite of the 4 books. I mean, why not? Everything FINALLY happens. And it's so intense.

Great weekend!

A few more pics from San Diego for your viewing pleasure. :)
hahaha love the posing. You can tell Courtney knows how to work it. lol
awww so cute. Cousins (the next generation) We seriously have had a kid boom happen. So many kids.
I just love this one of Courtney.
Wow! What a beauty. This looks like a headshot to me.
This was a huge hit of the day. Sky learned how to do this one time from Daddy and then just did it from then on. No fear from that child. All of the other kids learned and had a blast being "firemen". Now Courtney wants me to find a park in our area that has a pole to slide down. Any ideas?
This one my mom took. I love pictures of kids looking out to the water. Love it.
